Dental Examination and Cleaning
The best way to prevent dental problems and maintain a healthy smile is through routine visits to the dentist.

At your check-up appointment a licensed hygienist will perform a gentle cleaning. Dr. Sverdlov of Ridge Family Dental will complete a comprehensive exam which includes a thorough inspection for signs of decay, gum disease, tooth wear, and oral cancer. You can find more about gum disease and how to prevent it in the article by Dr. Sverdlov " Healthy Gums Don't Bleed ".

Dental Sealants
Dental sealants are thin, plastic coatings that are applied to the grooves on the chewing surfaces of the back teeth to protect them from tooth decay. Most tooth decay in children and teens occurs on these surfaces. Sealants protect the chewing surfaces from tooth decay by keeping germs and food particles out of these grooves.

Periodontal Therapy
Periodontics is a specialty of dentistry that centers mostly on the treatment and prevention of gum disease. Periodontal disease ranges from simple gum inflammation to serious disease that results in major damage to the soft tissue and bone that support the teeth. Gum disease can contribute to more than just dental concerns, other health concerns such as heart disease, diabetes, and premature, low birth weight babies. The main goal of treatment is to control the infection. Dr. Sverdlov will remove the bacterial plaque and tartar through a deep-cleaning method called scaling and root planning. This type of intensive teeth cleaning can help to prevent gum disease from progressing and allow the damaged tissue to repair itself. In some cases a prescription antimicrobial mouthrinse or placement of antibiotic into periodontal pockets might be indicated.

Tooth Colored Filings
White fillings, also called composite fillings, are made from tooth colored materials that restore original appearance of a decayed tooth. Because they blend well with tooth enamel and don’t look like fillings, Dr. Sverdlov may recommend tooth colored filings to achieve natural looking, long lasting results.

Root Canal Therapy
Dr. Sverdlov provides root canal therapy procedure to repair and save a tooth that is badly decayed or becomes infected. During a root canal procedure, the nerve or the pulp is removed and the inside of the tooth is cleaned and sealed.

Crowns
A dental crown is a custom-made restoration that covers the tooth like a “cap” to provide protection to teeth affected by decay or other damage such as fractures and discoloration. A crown can be made of many types of materials including porcelain, gold, resin, or a combination of these materials.

Bridges
A dental bridge can be a great solution to replace one or more missing teeth. A gap between your teeth can be potentially dangerous to your dental health, as it can cause your teeth to shift out of alignment. This can resulting in a change in your bite and lead to tooth decay and gum disease. Dental bridge is custom-made to help alleviate this problem by using the two surrounding teeth as anchors to hold a false tooth in place. Bridges are made from porcelain, gold, alloy or a mix of metal and porcelain. They are usually cemented in place.

Dentures
We understand the physical and emotional difficulty that comes from losing your teeth. Dentures can improve your quality of life by restoring confidence, ability to eat your favorite food, and help you regain your smile. They replace missing teeth and their adjacent tissues with a removable dental appliance made of acrylic resin and, in some cases, a combination of metals. Dr. Sverdlov will provide options for replacing missing teeth including dentures and partial dentures. Removable full dentures are used to replace all of your teeth, while partial dentures are used to replace one or more teeth. Dental implants can also be used to secure dentures for improved functionality.

Porcelain Veneers
Porcelain veneers are thin shells made of translucent porcelain that are bonded to the fronts of teeth to conceal flaws. If you are unhappy with the shape, color, or spacing of your teeth, veneers can be the solution. Dr. Sverdlov can combine her skill and artistry to dramatically improve the beauty, health, or function of your smile.

Teeth Whitening
Teeth whitening is a cosmetic procedure that many of Dr. Sverdlov's patients enjoy. It is a fast and easy way to improve your smile. Tooth enamel darkens naturally overtime. Exposure to substances such as coffee and tea, certain medications, excessive fluoride, deterioration of the tooth’s nerve, poor oral hygiene, and the aging process can gradually lead to tooth discoloration. At Ridge Family Dental, Dr. Sverdlov offers in-office and at-home teeth whitening treatments. We are delighted to offer our patients The Zoom! In-Office Whitening procedure. It is completed in our office in less than an hour and produces instant results. Our at home professional teeth whitening system includes a custom fit whitening trays and special whitening gel. These custom-made trays assure that the whitening gel will be administered evenly and properly without causing irritation to the gums. Both whitening techniques will brighten and whiten your natural smile.

Dental Implants
Dental Implants have become the treatment of choice for replacing missing teeth or dentures. They are placed surgically below the gums. Dental implants fuse to the jawbone and serve as an anchor for crowns, bridges or dentures. Today, dental implants are considered among the most successful dental prosthesis, and usually is the treatment of choice of missing or lost teeth. Dental implant restorations look and function just like natural teeth, allowing the patient to speak, chew and smile confidently.
